It’s hard to ignore corruption these days. Does the Bible warn against it?
Corruption, as I define it, is when a person uses the power of their position to get away with doing something bad.
Jesus warns against this, saying that the scribes who elevate themselves in public while taking advantage of vulnerable people will “face greater damnation.” (Mark 12:38-40)
One important point that separates (most) people from God is that while people tend to hold social standing and wealth as first priorities, God doesn’t care about them at all (Luke 16:15). People feel safe when their corruption yields wealth and respect. However, it’s exactly those fruits of corruption, it seems, that will doom them where God is concerned. Corruption can’t yield anything God wants.
